Nonperturbative effects in equilibrium finite-temperature scalar field theory.

چکیده
The effects of nonperturbative configurations at finite temperature are investigated for a real scalar field theory that exhibits a spontaneous symmetry breaking at zero temperature. In l+l dimensions we find a zero temperature phase transition due to kink-antikink pairs. In 3+1 dimensions we calculate the contribution of bubbles that have an interior region of different vacuum in the equilibrium finite temperature theory. We find that the energy cost of bubble surfaces makes their effects negligible at temperature below the perturbatively calculated phase transition temperature. We discuss the interpretation of these results. Submitted to Pbysjcai Review D * Work supported by the Department of Energy, contract DE AC03 76SF00515

Out of equilibrium quantum field dynamics in external fields
The quantum dynamics of the symmetry broken λ(Φ) scalar field theory in the presence of an homogeneous external field is investigated in the large N limit. We consider an initial thermal state of temperature T for a constant external field J . A subsequent sign flip of the external field, J → −J , gives rise to an out of equilibrium nonperturbative quantum field dynamics. We review here the dyn...
متن کاملCasimir effects of nano objects in fluctuating scalar and electromagnetic fields: Thermodynamic investigating
Casimir entropy is an important aspect of casimir effect and at the nanoscale is visible. In this paper, we employ the path integral method to obtain a general relation for casimir entropy and internal energy of arbitrary shaped objects in the presence of two, three and four dimension scalar fields and the electromagnetic field. For this purpose, using Lagrangian and based on a perturb...
متن کاملRenormalisation of the Nonperturbative Thermal Pressure
We show how the fully resummed thermal pressure is rendered ultraviolet finite by standard zero-temperature renormalisation. The analysis is developed in a 6-dimensional scalar model that mimics QED and has N flavours. The N → ∞ limit of the model can be calculated completely. At a critical temperature, one of the degrees of freedom has vanishing screening mass like the transverse gauge bosons ...
متن کاملSpectral function at high temperature in the classical approximation
At high temperature the infrared modes of a weakly coupled quantum field theory can be treated nonperturbatively in real time using the classical field approximation. We use this to introduce a nonperturbative approach to the calculation of finite-temperature spectral functions, employing the classical KMS condition in real time. The method is illustrated for the one-particle spectral function ...
متن کاملDimensional Reduction and Screening Masses in Pure Gauge Theories at Finite Temperature
We studied screening masses in the equilibrium thermodynamics of SU(2) and SU(3) pure gauge theories on the lattice. At a temperature of 2Tc we found strong evidence for dimensional reduction in the nonperturbative spectrum of screening masses. Mass ratios in the high temperature SU(3) theory are consistent with those in the pure gauge theory in three dimensions. At the first order SU(3) phase ...
